Reading Room Policies
 

Newspapers and periodicals reading room policy

1.Obtain a seat number and a plate card by presenting valid ID (ID card, senior citizen card, military ID card, disabilities card, student ID, work ID) at the circulation desk before reading.

2.Newspapers and periodicals in this reading room are not loanable.

3.Do not carry newspapers and periodicals outside the reading room. Violation of this policy shall be treated as theft.

4.Take one copy at a time, and re-shelve properly after reading.

5.Only current editions are provided.

6.Photocopies may be made by registering the name of the original copy, number of copies and reader name, and upon approval of library staff. Please have library staff check the copies, and re-shelve properly.

7.Take care of the collections and public properties. Scribbling, marking, tearing up pages, or clipping are strictly prohibited. Do not carve or write on reading desks, or move them around. Violators of this policy are subject to fines of RMB 20-50.

8.Making noises, chatting, and talking on cellphones are not allowed. Those who refuse to observe this policy despite being reminded may be asked to leave the reading room.

9.Please store your personal belongings at the storage center. Do not bring them to your seat. Visitors are responsible for their own valuables.

10.Please keep the room clean. Do not eat snacks, litter or spit.

Self-study reading room policy

Electronic reading room policy

1.The electronic reading room houses all catalogues of electronic collections. Readers can read ebooks, search online, search for library collections, and watch video materials in this room.

2.Each reader can use the computer for up to two hours per day.

3.Do not carry umbrellas or food into the electronic reading room. Use the computer assigned to you by staff, and follow procedures when using the computer.

4.Follow national laws and regulations on the use of Internet. Do not play electronic games, disseminate information that may cause harm, or visit malicious websites.

5.Take care of computer equipment. Theft or damage of computer components is strictly prohibited. Do not change software or Internet configurations unless otherwise authorized. Do not delete files. Theft will be handled seriously according to relevant regulations.

6.In case of software or hardware breakdowns, contact the administrator immediately. Do not handle problems by yourself, or readers who do so will be held accountable for any losses.

7.Please keep the room clean. Do not smoke, spit, scribble, or litter.

8.Please keep quiet. Do not make noises or talk on the phone. Use headphones when watching videos to avoid disturbing others.

9.To avoid computer virus, do not use floppy disks or flash drives.

10.Underage visitors are not allowed to enter the electronic reading room.

Local collections reading room policy

1.Local collections reading room mainly provides resources related to Jinzhou area.

2.Please show request letter from your organization and relevant identification documents before reading in this room.

3.Visitors may review collections or consult on specific research topics.

4.Please take care of the materials from local collections. Do not damage, clip or tear up pages. Violators are liable for compensation of up to twice the price of the materials considering the circumstances.

5.Collections from this reading room are non-loanable, but may be copied at the library copy center under urgent circumstances.

6.Library staff may borrow collections if necessary upon the approval of library executives.

7.Please keep the reading room clean. Do not smoke, spit or litter.

Reference division reading room policy

1.Reference books on social science, natural science, and copies of publications from Renmin University are available in this room.

2.Visitors may review collections or consult with librarians after presenting request letters from their organizations or relevant identification documents, and filling in the reader’s registration form.

3.Visitors may consult fact-based information or on specific research topics.

4.Please take care of the collections, especially old worn-out items. Do not damage, mark, clip or tear up pages. Violators are liable for compensation of up to twice the price of the materials considering the circumstances.

5.Collections in this room are non-loanable. Readers may make photocopies at the library copy center.
